BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul outlined the government’s direction to advance women’s roles during an event promoting women’s leadership under the W-Unity Project at the IMPACT Forum in Nonthaburi. The June 22 event, organized by the Ministry of Interior, was attended by cabinet ministers, senior officials, and more than 2,000 women leaders from across the country. During his speech, Anutin said women make up half of Thailand’s population and are central to the country’s future. The premier set out three priorities: enabling women to have families without sacrificing career opportunities, improving safety in urban areas, and creating systems to protect women from domestic violence. He said national progress goes hand in hand with the advancement of women.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi said the prime minister’s policy recognizes women as a driving force in families, communities, the economy, and national leadership. The minister said women leaders at the local level also play an important role in connecting government policies with communities and supporting grassroots economic development. In her capacity as the minister overseeing the Public Relations Department (PRD) and MCOT Public Company Limited, Supamas directed both state media organizations to communicate the prime minister’s message to women nationwide. The outreach will target women leaders, entrepreneurs, occupational groups, and members of the Women’s Development Fund through television, radio, digital platforms, and provincial public relations networks.
