PATTAYA, Thailand – Residents have called for stricter waste management enforcement after municipal officers and city environmental teams carried out a cleanup operation in Pattaya on June 22. Jomtien municipal officers, together with the Pattaya City Environment Office, cleared accumulated garbage in an alley beside a go-kart driving track area off Thepprasit Soi 7 as part of ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness and order in the city. The operation followed complaints about illegal dumping and long-standing waste buildup in the area.

However, local residents used the opportunity to raise wider concerns about waste issues in other neighborhoods, urging authorities to inspect additional locations, including Chaiyapruek Soi 4 near construction sites and residential areas where garbage reportedly continues to accumulate. Some residents alleged that waste is being dumped by workers from nearby construction sites, often during evening hours, using small trucks and pickup vehicles, making enforcement more difficult.

Locals also expressed concern that despite repeated cleanups, waste problems in some areas appear to persist or worsen over time, calling for more consistent monitoring and stronger enforcement measures. Residents are encouraged to report incidents of illegal dumping to the Pattaya City Hall 24-hour hotline at 1337 for immediate response.

Residents call for stricter enforcement, saying illegal dumping continues in several Pattaya neighborhoods despite repeated cleanup efforts.
