PATTAYA, Thailand – As the rainy season settles over Pattaya, sudden downpours and humid weather are becoming part of daily life, but local transport continues to operate as normal. Among all options, the city’s iconic baht buses remain the most convenient and widely used way for tourists to move around the beach city. Daytime temperatures can still reach around 33°C, with hot and humid conditions before clouds build up later in the day. Sudden rainfall is often expected in the evening, a typical pattern during the green season.
Despite wet roads and changing weather, baht buses continue running frequent routes along Beach Road, Second Road, and Jomtien, offering affordable fares and easy access to major attractions. For many visitors, they remain the simplest choice compared to ride-hailing apps, which can surge in price during bad weather or peak demand. Tourists are often seen hopping on and off the shared pickup-style vehicles, making quick trips between hotels, nightlife areas, and shopping districts. Even during sudden showers, drivers continue operating, with passengers simply adjusting plans or waiting briefly under shelter before continuing their journey.
However, visitors are reminded to watch fares closely and know the expected price before hopping in, especially on less standard routes or during quieter hours, to avoid misunderstandings. Local operators say demand remains steady throughout the rainy season, especially from short-stay visitors who prefer a low-cost, flexible transport option. While weather conditions may slow traffic at times, baht buses continue to form the backbone of Pattaya’s informal public transport system. As the green season brings both rain and fewer crowds, the baht bus remains a familiar sight on Pattaya’s streets—simple, affordable, and still the city’s most recognizable way to get around.
