
BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand was united in grief on June 13 as His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and members of the Royal Family accompanied the solemn transfer of the body of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati to the Grand Palace. At 3:55 p.m., Their Majesties departed from Amporn Sathan Residential Hall in Dusit Palace, joined by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti, and Royal Noble Consort Sineenat Bilaskalayani, to attend the royal bathing rites for the late Princess at Pimarn Rattaya Hall within the Grand Palace. Upon arriving at Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, members of the Royal Family gathered as medical personnel prepared the Princess’s body for the ceremonial transfer. At 4:26 p.m., a solemn procession led by senior Buddhist clergy escorted the body from the Bhumisirimangalanusorn Building.
Doctors and nurses who had cared for the Princess accompanied the transfer, moving the royal bier from the hospital and into a royal vehicle for the journey across Bangkok. Along the route, medical staff, nursing students, hospital personnel, and members of the public lined the streets, many bowing in respect and openly weeping as the procession passed. The cortege traveled through central Bangkok before arriving at the Grand Palace through Wiset Chaisri Gate. The emotional scenes reflected the deep affection and respect held by many Thais for Princess Bajrakitiyabha, whose passing has prompted an outpouring of grief across the nation.
