Thai and IMF officials discussed economic stability and preparations for Bangkok’s hosting of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas welcomed IMF Deputy Managing Director Kenji Okamura during his official visit to Thailand on June 4 and 5. The bilateral meeting was held on the 20th floor of the 150th Anniversary Building at the Ministry of Finance. Both sides discussed Thailand’s macroeconomic developments, fiscal stability, and regional financial policies. The meeting also reviewed Thailand’s progress in preparing to host the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the IMF and World Bank Group. Scheduled to take place in Bangkok from October 12 to 18, this landmark international assembly will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, and private-sector executives to discuss international development and global financial architecture.
