CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A vegetable vendor in Chiang Mai has become a local celebrity after a viral TikTok video sparked a surge of interest in her fortune-telling abilities, attracting crowds of customers who now line up nightly for readings. Known locally as “Mae Mor Ooh,” the woman from San Sai district previously earned a living selling vegetables on a roadside near Chiang Mai’s famous Warorot Market, commonly known as Kad Luang. However, her growing popularity as a fortune teller has become so overwhelming that she has had to put her vegetable business on hold.

When reporters visited the site on June 2, they found dozens of people waiting along the sidewalk and in parked vehicles for their turn to receive card and palm readings. Some visitors reportedly collected queue numbers before leaving to run errands while they waited. Mae Mor Ooh said her unexpected fame began after a young customer filmed her and posted the clip on TikTok, describing her predictions as remarkably accurate. The video quickly gained attention online, triggering a flood of visitors eager to test her abilities for themselves.

Long queues formed outside Chiang Mai’s Kad Luang market as fortune-seekers waited hours to meet a vegetable vendor whose readings went viral on TikTok.

She said she had previously practiced fortune telling in Chom Thong district before moving to the market area, where she combined evening vegetable sales with occasional readings. Demand has since grown so rapidly that she now spends entire nights reading tarot cards, traditional playing cards, and palms for customers. On some evenings, sessions continue until dawn. Despite the crowds, she charges only 20 baht per reading. According to local reports, queue numbers recently exceeded 50 customers in a single night, with only a handful seen before 11 p.m.

Many visitors said they came after hearing recommendations from friends or seeing discussions on social media claiming that her readings were surprisingly accurate. For now, the roadside fortune teller’s modest stall has become one of Chiang Mai’s most unusual viral attractions, turning a local vegetable seller into an overnight internet sensation.
