PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya and surrounding areas in Chonburi province are being placed on alert for heavy rain, localized flooding, and dangerous sea conditions as Thailand’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department issued warnings covering 71 provinces nationwide. The warning, effective from May 28 through June 1, comes as stronger southwest monsoon conditions intensify across the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and much of the country, bringing increased rainfall and unstable weather conditions. Chonburi, along with nearby eastern provinces including Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, has been identified among areas at risk of flash floods, runoff, temporary flooding, and storm-related disruptions.

Officials warned that Pattaya’s low-lying roads, flood-prone intersections, beachside areas, and densely populated urban zones could experience water accumulation during periods of intense rainfall, particularly if storms strike during high traffic hours. Authorities are also monitoring risks linked to strong winds and rough seas, with boat operators, ferry services, and tourism businesses advised to closely follow marine weather updates. Small vessels are being urged to exercise extra caution as wave conditions may rapidly deteriorate.

Tourists visiting beaches, islands, waterfalls, and natural attractions are being advised to remain alert for sudden weather changes, while residents living near drainage canals or hillside areas are urged to monitor local conditions closely. Emergency response teams and disaster relief equipment have reportedly been placed on standby across risk areas to respond quickly if flooding or storm damage occurs. The weather alert arrives as Pattaya enters one of its busiest mid-year tourism periods, with hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, and attractions preparing for increased domestic and international visitor activity despite the unstable weather forecast.
