BANGKOK, Thailand – The government issued an urgent warning advising citizens not to click on phishing links or add personal LINE accounts via fraudulent SMS messages. It emphasized that registrations for the newly launched “Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40)” economic stimulus scheme can only be done through the official “Pao Tang” mobile application. Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploytalay Laksameesangchan announced the official registration window for the general public will run from May 25 to May 29, 2026, daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The state-backed program is capped at 30 million eligible privileges on a first-come, first-served basis.
The deputy spokesperson warned that scammers may pressure individuals to register quickly, click suspicious links, or add personal LINE accounts, falsely claiming that registration rights are limited.
To protect personal information and financial assets, the government advised the public not to click links from unsolicited SMS messages, not to trust unofficial social media accounts, and never to share personal information such as national ID numbers, birth dates, PINs, OTPs, or bank details. The government also reiterated that state agencies and financial institutions do not request OTP codes or money transfers by phone. Victims of online fraud or those who spot suspicious activity are urged to file an immediate digital report via the official law enforcement website at thaipoliceonline.go.th or contact the Anti-Online Scams Operation Center (AOC) via the 24-hour national hotline at 1441.
