PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department has issued its 17th warning of the season, forecasting continued heavy rainfall and strong winds across the country, driven by an intensified southwest monsoon over the upper Andaman Sea and a low-pressure system covering parts of the north and northeast. The warning highlights persistent rainfall nationwide, with some areas expected to experience heavy to very heavy downpours. Authorities have cautioned residents in vulnerable zones—particularly hillside areas, waterways, and low-lying communities—to prepare for flash floods and runoff conditions.
For Pattaya and the eastern seaboard, attention is focused on turbulent sea conditions affecting nearby waters in the Gulf of Thailand. Waves are expected to reach around 2 meters, rising higher during thunderstorms, prompting caution for marine activities and coastal operations. Stronger conditions are forecast over the Andaman Sea, where waves may reach 2–3 meters, and exceed 3 meters during storms. Officials have advised small boats to remain ashore in affected zones and urged all vessels to avoid sailing through storm areas. The Meteorological Department is urging the public, fishermen, and coastal operators to closely monitor updates and follow official advisories as conditions remain unstable.
