Thailand and Peru push forward trade pact as envoy bids farewell

Peru’s Ambassador Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, with both sides welcoming progress on the Thailand–Peru Free Trade Agreement and deeper cooperation in trade and logistics.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán paid a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul at the Government House upon completing her diplomatic tenure. Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek summarized the key outcomes of the bilateral discussion. The Prime Minister and the Ambassador commended the long-standing close relations and strong cooperation between Thailand and Peru. The Ambassador expressed deep gratitude for the continuous support from the Thai government during her mission, noting her honor in advancing multi-dimensional bilateral ties.



​On economic cooperation, both sides welcomed substantial progress in the Thailand-Peru Free Trade Agreement negotiations. They expressed a mutual desire to expedite the remaining processes to ensure the historic accord is signed this year. Regarding food security, both leaders highlighted the significant agricultural potential shared by the nations. The Prime Minister positioned Thailand as a secure and vital food source capable of supplying agricultural products to Peru and the broader South American region.


​In logistics, the Ambassador highlighted the strategic importance of Peru’s Chancay Port project and invited Thai participation. The mega-project is designed to optimize supply chain networks and enhance commercial connectivity between South America and ASEAN, with Thailand as the primary regional gateway. The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador for her dedicated service in strengthening relations and wished her success in future endeavors, emphasizing that she remains a valued friend of Thailand.
