Thailand probes dumpling complaint after tissue found in filling

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), under the supervision of Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi, has launched an urgent investigation after a consumer reported finding tissue paper inside fish dumplings in Khon Kaen, working with the Food and Drug Administration to inspect vendors and ensure food safety standards.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi has ordered an urgent probe into a consumer complaint involving tissue paper allegedly found inside fish dumpling filling purchased in Khon Kaen province.  Supamas directed officials from the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) to verify the information and monitor the case closely. Inspection teams were dispatched to the Bueng Kaen Nakhon area, where nearly 30 dumpling vendors were identified and checked, though no similar findings were reported during initial inspections.



Food safety falls under the authority of the Food and Drug Administration, which oversees hygiene standards under the Food Act. The OCPB is coordinating with the FDA to ensure a thorough review and is preparing to assist affected consumers in seeking compensation through civil channels. Consumers are advised to check hygiene conditions before purchasing and to retain evidence if issues arise, while complaints can be filed through the FDA hotline 1556, the OCPB hotline 1166, and related channels.
