‘KOREA SEASON 2026’ will bring a year of Korean performances, exhibitions, and cultural events to Thailand, strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is set to host “KOREA SEASON 2026,” a year-long celebration of Korean arts and culture organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE).

KOREA SEASON serves as a flagship cultural diplomacy initiative by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, bringing specially curated performances, exhibitions, concerts, and cultural activities to countries with a strong appreciation for Korean culture. The 2026 edition aims to highlight the diverse charms of Korean culture while strengthening sustainable cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Korea and Thailand.

Lee Sun-ju, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, said the program will introduce Korean arts and culture to Thai audiences through a wide range of formats, including performances, exhibitions, and concerts. She added that the initiative is expected to create new cultural synergies and further deepen cultural ties between the two countries.

This year’s edition also marks a significant milestone for the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, as it prepares to relocate after 13 years in the Asok area. The center will move to Thonglor in July and officially reopen in October.

Among the major highlights is “GAT,” a contemporary ballet performance scheduled for May 23 at Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre in Bangkok. Inspired by the traditional Korean hat known as the gat, the production reinterprets Korean aesthetics through the language of Western ballet, blending traditional symbolism with fluid contemporary movement.

Other key events include the K-Live Festival in October, as well as a media art exhibition featuring traditional Korean motifs, which will run from October 2026 through January 2027. (NNT)
