CHONBURI, Thailand – Pol. Gen. Kitrat Phanphet, Thai Police Chief, traveled to Na Jomtien Police Station on May 9 to personally follow up on a major weapons and explosives case and commend a local traffic police officer whose quick thinking helped uncover a large illegal arms cache linked to two Chinese nationals. The police chief praised Police Corporal Nilpat Thongyoi for his alertness and professionalism after what initially appeared to be a routine traffic accident involving foreign nationals along the railway road heading toward Pattaya.
During the inspection of the crashed vehicle, the officer reportedly noticed suspicious items inside the car and alerted investigators, leading police to expand the investigation to a residence in Banglamung district, Chonburi. Authorities later discovered a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, and explosive materials inside the property. EOD officers were called in to safely inspect and secure the scene. Pol. Gen. Kitrat said the incident demonstrates how careful police work and attention to unusual behavior can help prevent serious threats and improve public safety. He urged all officers to remain vigilant, professional, and committed to proactive policing, while Region 2 Police praised all personnel involved in the operation for their dedication and teamwork.
