Storms, heavy rain, and flood risks continue hovering over Pattaya as unstable weather threatens several busy and low-lying parts of the city.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya is bracing for another stretch of unstable weather as thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and localized flooding risks continue to threaten several low-lying and heavily populated parts of the city.

Weather forecasts indicate Pattaya and surrounding areas could experience repeated rounds of rain and thunderstorms over the coming days, particularly during afternoon and evening hours, as seasonal weather patterns strengthen across eastern Thailand. Residents and motorists are being urged to remain cautious in flood-prone zones where heavy rainfall can quickly overwhelm drainage systems, especially along major traffic routes, beachside roads, underpasses, and densely populated neighborhoods.

The warning comes as Pattaya continues facing seasonal weather swings typical of May, with intense heat, high humidity, sudden thunderstorms, and strong winds creating difficult conditions across the city, particularly in areas such as Jomtien, Huay Yai, Nongprue, Naklua, and Wong Amat where heavy rain and localized flooding can quickly disrupt traffic and daily life. Long-term weather patterns also show Pattaya entering one of its wetter periods of the year, bringing increased risks of flash floods and tropical storm activity across low-lying and densely populated zones.

Officials remain particularly concerned about temporary flooding in busy urban areas where ongoing roadworks, drainage upgrades, and traffic congestion may worsen water buildup during periods of heavy rain. Motorists are advised to drive carefully during storms, avoid flooded roads where possible, and remain alert for reduced visibility and slippery conditions. Beach operators and small boat crews are also being warned to monitor changing sea conditions during thunderstorms.

Despite the unsettled conditions, Pattaya continues to see strong tourist activity heading into the low season, although authorities say residents and visitors should closely follow weather updates as storms remain possible throughout the week.
