UDON THANI, Thailand – A 24-year-old nurse has contacted police after feeling unsafe when a food delivery rider reportedly refused to leave after completing an order and later asked to go up to her room to “see her cat,” despite no pets being kept at the residence in Udon Thani.

At around 1.00 p.m. on April 26, police at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station received a report via the 191 emergency center that a woman was seeking assistance after a delivery situation escalated at a dormitory within the municipal area.

Officers responded to the three-storey apartment building where they found the woman, identified as a 24-year-old hospital nurse, visibly shaken and frightened. CCTV footage and chat messages between her and the rider were also provided as evidence.

According to the woman, she had ordered lunch through a food delivery application and paid via mobile banking, requesting the meal be left at a designated drop-off point at the stairway of the dormitory.

She said the rider initially sent messages asking for her Line contact, which she declined, and instead asked for a phone number. After the exchange, the rider reportedly remained in the area.

The woman stated that the rider later sent messages saying he was still at the location and asked which room she stayed in, claiming he wanted to bring the food upstairs and also asked to “see her cat,” despite her not owning any pets.

Police review messages and CCTV footage in Udon Thani after a nurse raises safety concerns over a food delivery encounter at her apartment dormitory.

Feeling uneasy, she said she told him that someone else would come down to collect the food. However, when she went downstairs, she saw the rider still parked nearby and had not left the area. She then ran back to her room out of concern for her safety and called police.

The rider reportedly left the scene after learning that police had been contacted. Officers later attempted to reach him by phone, but he declined to return at that time.

The woman said she did not consume the food due to safety concerns and intended to file a formal complaint for documentation and further investigation after completing her shift.

Police say they will continue to gather statements and review evidence to determine the rider’s intent and whether any legal action is necessary.
