PATTAYA, Thailand – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has increased train capacity to accommodate passengers returning to Bangkok after the Songkran holiday, as travel demand across the network rises.

Additional carriages are being added to trains with heavy bookings from April 15 to 17, helping manage larger crowds and ease congestion during the return period. The measure is expected to help improve traffic flow and ensure adequate space for passengers returning to the capital.

Safety measures have also been strengthened to address potential emergencies during journeys. Extra staff have been deployed on trains, with more frequent patrols to assist passengers and respond to incidents more quickly. Travelers can report emergencies through the 24-hour SRT Customer Relations Center hotline at 1690 for rapid coordination.

In serious cases, the railway will coordinate with onboard teams, train control centers, and medical units to provide initial assistance and prepare support at destination stations. Ambulances can be arranged through the 1669 national emergency hotline to meet trains on arrival, allowing prompt transfer of patients to medical facilities.
