PM Anutin opens Maha Songkran Festival in Ang Thong, joins traditional water celebrations at Khao Suk Road

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presides over the opening of the “Maha Songkran @ Khao Suk Road” festival at Wiset Chai Chan District, with ceremonies held at Wat Lat Pet, alongside Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Paradorn Pritsananantakul, MP Korrawee Pritsananantakul, and Governor Natee Montriwat, before joining traditional parades and water-splashing festivities along Khao Suk Road, a major family-friendly Songkran landmark known for its strict alcohol-free safety measures.

ANG THONG, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening of the “Maha Songkran @ Khao Suk Road” festival in Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province.

​The event at Wat Lat Pet in Tha Chang Subdistrict is a major celebration at one of Thailand’s most renowned Songkran destinations.

​The Prime Minister attended with his spouse, Mrs. Thanonon Niramit, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Paradorn Pritsananantakul, Ang Thong MP Korrawee Pritsananantakul, and Ang Thong Governor Natee Montriwat.



​In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that the festivities align with the national theme, “Once in a Lifetime: Experience Songkran in Thailand.” He noted that the festival celebrates the Thai New Year, Family Day, and National Elderly Day, reflecting the warmth and cultural heritage of the Thai people. He wished happiness and safety to Ang Thong residents and visitors.

​After the ceremony, the Prime Minister took part in religious rites and joined the parade along Khao Suk Road, which featured traditional dancers, fantasy troupes, and Buddha image processions. He greeted participants and joined tourists in the water-splashing festivities.

​Khao Suk Road is a leading Songkran landmark, spanning about two kilometers along irrigation canals. Each year, tens of thousands of visitors gather for water play. The provincial administration enforces a strict alcohol-free policy and strong safety measures, making it a popular, family-friendly destination. (NNT)
