Motorway M6 opens its full 196-kilometer route for Songkran travel, easing traffic flow between Bangkok and the Northeast during the April 10–19 holiday period.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Highways has confirmed the full opening of Motorway M6 (Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Ratchasima) for a 10-day Songkran trial, covering a total distance of 196 kilometers to support travel to the Northeast.

The motorway officially opened at 00:01 on April 10, with authorities implementing a one-way traffic system on the Bang Pa-in–Pak Chong section to ease congestion. From April 10–13, the route operates outbound from Bangkok, while from April 14–19, it switches to inbound traffic toward the capital.

Meanwhile, the Pak Chong–Nakhon Ratchasima section remains open in both directions 24 hours a day throughout the period.

Officials conducted inspections to ensure readiness across all areas, including vehicle checkpoints, service points, temporary rest areas, and traffic management systems. Authorities emphasized full coordination among all agencies, with personnel and equipment on standby around the clock to handle peak travel demand.

Motorway M6 is open only to four-wheel vehicles, with a speed limit of 80 km/h. Drivers are advised that there are currently no fuel stations, EV charging points, or retail services along the route, and are urged to plan ahead and prepare their vehicles before traveling.

The Bang Pa-in–Pak Chong section operates one-way outbound from April 10–13 as authorities manage heavy holiday traffic heading out of Bangkok.

Officials inspect readiness along Motorway M6, reminding drivers of the 80 km/h speed limit and lack of fuel stations and service facilities along the route.
