The Department of Highways has suspended construction and reopened main traffic lanes on Rama II Road to ease holiday travel, with works on the Intercity Motorway No. 82 set to resume after Songkran as authorities aim to complete remaining sections before mid-May.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Highways (DOH) has suspended construction and reopened main traffic lanes on Rama II Road to ease travel during the Songkran holiday. The measure covers sections of the Intercity Motorway No. 82 project, where work has been paused following safety checks on recently installed structures.

Authorities said all main lanes in both inbound and outbound directions have been restored to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion as holiday travel increases. The temporary suspension enables safer, more efficient journeys along one of the country’s busiest routes.

After the holiday period, partial lane closures and traffic diversions will resume to allow continued installation of elevated structures. Adjustments will begin on April 20 at kilometer points 26 and 30+500, operating during daytime hours from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The DOH expects to complete the remaining work and restore full lane access before the new school term in mid-May. Motorists are advised to check travel conditions in advance via the department’s 24-hour hotline at 1586. (NNT)
