Tourism officials welcome international arrivals at Hat Yai International Airport with souvenirs and prize incentives as part of the “Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges @ Hat Yai” campaign, aimed at driving high-quality tourism and economic recovery in Southern Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the “Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges @ Hat Yai” initiative to support economic recovery in the southern border provinces.

As part of the broader “Smile @ South” campaign, this public-private partnership seeks to attract international tourists and boost local spending through targeted incentives and premium experiences.

On April 3, 2026, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, along with representatives from Hatyai International Airport, the Tourist Police, Immigration, Customs, and regional chambers of commerce, welcomed international travelers at key entry points. Ceremonies took place at Hat Yai International Airport and at the Sadao and Padang Besar border checkpoints. Tourists received Thai-inspired souvenirs from community enterprises and could win “Lucky Vouchers” worth over 500,000 baht, redeemable at more than 100 participating hotels, restaurants, and local shops.

Following a “Value over Volume” strategy, the project targets high-potential short-haul markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Travelers can join by presenting their passports at designated booths to receive an “Amazing Bag” and register via QR code for exclusive privileges. Activities will run through May 2026 at major southern airports and land borders.

TAT expects this initiative to significantly increase local economic activity and strengthen Thailand’s reputation as “Trusted Thailand,” a safe, convenient, and welcoming “Quality Leisure Destination” in the region. In addition to immediate tourism objectives, the campaign aims to restore community confidence and promote sustainable long-term growth in Southern Thailand.
