PATTAYA, Thailand – A group of American veterans carried out a community outreach initiative to support vulnerable children at the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) in Huai Yai on April 3, offering hands-on learning activities and vocational skills training.

The program, held under the theme “Cross Training – Bridging Hearts, Restoring Pride to Society,” was warmly welcomed by the center’s director, Siromet Akkarapongpanich, along with staff and children at the facility.

The initiative focused on providing meaningful out-of-classroom learning experiences while strengthening ties between the local community and international visitors. A shared lunch created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere throughout the day.

Children took part in a variety of activities designed to build skills and broaden their perspectives. These included visits to the home’s agricultural garden to learn about self-sufficiency, creative decoupage art sessions where they designed decorative fans, and a “Global Flavors” cooking workshop.

During the cooking session, the visiting veterans introduced simple international dishes such as sandwich wraps and macaroni and cheese, combining fun with practical life skills that children can apply in the future.

The group also donated essential supplies, educational support, and purchased artwork created by the children, offering encouragement and helping to build confidence and future opportunities for the youth.

The event highlighted the positive role of community engagement in supporting child development and fostering long-term hope for disadvantaged young people.
