PATTAYA, Thailand – Mayor Poramet Ngampichet has reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting national energy policies, as authorities intensify efforts to manage the ongoing energy crisis linked to instability in the Middle East.
Speaking after attending a high-level meeting via video conference chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Ministry of Interior, Poramet said Pattaya is ready to fully integrate all sectors to implement government measures at the local level.
The meeting focused on assessing the impact of global energy volatility, particularly rising oil prices, and outlining coordinated responses across provinces. Governors and local administrations were instructed to closely monitor the situation, identify risks, and ensure effective implementation of national policies.
Key directives included stricter enforcement against fuel hoarding and overpricing, with authorities urged to carry out inspections and apply legal measures where necessary. Officials were also tasked with ensuring adequate supplies of essential goods and medicines, particularly in preparation for potential disruptions.
In addition, the government called on both the public and private sectors to reduce energy consumption and promote awareness campaigns to encourage more efficient use of resources.
Poramet stated that Pattaya will actively support these initiatives, prioritizing the welfare of residents, maintaining fair pricing for goods and energy, and reinforcing public confidence during the ongoing uncertainty.
