Fuel prices remain a key concern for motorists, businesses, and the transport sector in Thailand as authorities continue to monitor global energy markets and national fuel supplies.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has announced diesel prices will increase on March 18, with the government keeping the price below 33 baht per liter. The adjustment comes as authorities respond to movements in global energy markets.

Phiphat said Thailand’s fuel reserves remain sufficient for about 96 days, based on confirmations from the Ministry of Energy and PTT Public Company Limited. He said recent shortages at some fuel stations were due to distribution delays rather than a supply shortfall.

Logistical disruptions have affected deliveries to smaller, independent fuel stations, leading to temporary closures in some areas. This has shifted demand toward larger stations, creating localized pressure despite adequate national reserves.

Authorities are also reviewing fuel pricing structures, including gasoline and diesel blends, as part of efforts to manage costs for consumers and key sectors. Further details are expected following additional government discussions on energy measures. (NNT)
