BANGKOK, Thailand – Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Thapanee Kiatphaibool has announced that five Thai travel experiences have been featured in TIME Magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places 2026.” Published on March 12, 2026, the list highlights 100 extraordinary destinations and experiences from across the globe.

This year’s selections for Thailand emphasize “Experience-Based” tourism, showcasing the nation’s diversity, ranging from world-class accommodations and contemporary art to authentic community-based travel. A primary highlight is DaiDib DaiDee, a small farm homestay in Pua District, Nan Province. Featured by freelance writer Johanna Read following her participation in the Tourism Cares Summit 2025, the homestay offers guests a “slow life” experience integrated with nature. Visitors can engage in local traditions and enjoy innovative culinary fusions, such as Thai-style pizzas topped with Sai Oua sausage and Nam Prik Ong chili dip.

The inclusion of these locations aligns with Thailand’s “Meaningful Travel” concept, which focuses on creating lasting impacts through simple yet profound local interactions. In addition to the Nan homestay, the other Thai destinations recognized by TIME include the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, The Blue Jasmine Train, Khao Yai Art Forest, and DIB Bangkok.

These rankings underscore that Thailand’s global appeal extends beyond physical beauty to include the warmth of its people and the depth of the stories shared through local experiences. This recognition is expected to further bolster international traveler confidence and stimulate the creative tourism economy. (NNT)
