Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana announces the launch of Thailand’s Self-Origin Certification (SOC) system by the Department of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, allowing exporters to apply for and print Certificates of Origin online to reduce paperwork and accelerate international trade.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government will launch the Self-Origin Certification (SOC) system on March 16, 2026, to streamline export procedures, reduce documentation, and expedite international trade.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana announced that the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, will implement this initiative to modernize export procedures and enhance efficiency for Thai businesses.

Previously, exporters seeking a Certificate of Origin (C/O) for preferential tariff benefits had to complete several paper-based steps, including registration, submitting applications and supporting documents, and collecting certificates in person. This process often took several days.

With the SOC system, all procedures will move to a digital platform. Exporters can submit applications, upload documents, track status, and print certificates independently online. Businesses can access the SOC platform online and register through the Department of Foreign Trade’s SMART-I system.

The new system is expected to reduce processing times, minimize paperwork, enhance transparency, and enable real-time application tracking.

Registration requires a company registration certificate issued within the past three months, identification for authorized signatories, and a business location map. Manufacturers must also submit factory operation licenses, production process details, and maps of production and storage facilities.

The government stated that launching the SOC system is a significant step toward advancing digital government services, reducing administrative burdens for exporters, improving trade efficiency, and strengthening the global competitiveness of Thai products. (NNT)
