
BANGKOK, Thailand – Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, and a delegation from the department arrived in Van, Republic of Türkiye, to coordinate with the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, led by Phanchita Rommayanont, Chargé d’Affaires, on the evacuation of Thai nationals from Iran to Thailand.
The delegation conducted a coordination meeting to review the operational plan and inspected the Evacuation Operations Center for Thai nationals from Iran. The center, located at the Elite World Hotel in Van, serves as both a temporary shelter for Thai citizens and a temporary office of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran.
The delegation also visited the Kapıköy border checkpoint in Türkiye to prepare for the arrival of the first group of Thai nationals evacuating from Iran. This group, consisting of approximately 69 people, will arrive in Van on 7 March 2026. They will proceed to the temporary shelter center before departing for Thailand on flights scheduled for 8 and 9 March 2026.
