PATTAYA, Thailand – Hot weather is tightening its grip on Pattaya and much of eastern Thailand, with the Thai Meteorological Department warning temperatures could climb as high as 39 degrees Celsius in several regions.

For Pattaya and the wider eastern seaboard, daytime highs are expected to reach around 38–39°C, creating sweltering conditions across the city’s beaches, construction sites, and busy tourist zones. The intense heat is being driven by a high-pressure system from China that has extended over northern Laos and Vietnam, influencing weather patterns across Thailand.

At the same time, summer storms are forecast for parts of the East, including Chonburi province. Pattaya could see sudden thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and occasional lightning, particularly in the late afternoon or evening as moisture from the South China Sea is drawn inland by southerly and southeasterly winds.

Residents and tourists in Pattaya are being urged to take precautions against heat-related health risks. Authorities recommend staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and remaining alert for rapidly changing weather conditions.

For those heading out to sea, conditions may also turn rough during storms. Waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to average about one meter, rising above two meters in stormy areas, while boat operators in both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to avoid sailing in areas experiencing thunderstorms.

With high heat and unstable weather combining, Pattaya faces a typical but intense spell of early summer conditions — scorching by day, with the risk of sudden storms by night.
