PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast hot and hazy conditions across Pattaya and Thailand’s eastern region, with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds possible in some areas over the next 24 hours.
According to the department’s latest outlook, upper Thailand remains under the influence of a heat-driven low-pressure system, combined with converging southerly and southwesterly winds. This weather pattern is bringing daytime heat and haze, while increasing the risk of brief thunderstorms accompanied by strong wind gusts.
In Pattaya and surrounding eastern provinces, daytime temperatures are expected to range between 31 and 37 degrees Celsius, with a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms. Gusty winds may occur in areas affected by storms, prompting officials to advise residents and visitors to take precautions during outdoor activities.
Marine conditions remain generally calm near the coast, with waves below one meter. However, in offshore areas or during thunderstorms, waves may rise to around one meter, and boat operators are urged to navigate with caution.
Looking ahead, the Thai Meteorological Department warned that summer storms are likely to affect upper Thailand between Feb 23 and 25, bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, lightning, and isolated hail in some areas. The storms are expected to develop as a cooler air mass from China moves into northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea, interacting with hot air currently covering much of the country.
Authorities advise people in Pattaya and the eastern region to stay hydrated, limit prolonged exposure to the heat, and remain alert to sudden weather changes, particularly during the late afternoon and evening when storms are more likely to develop.
