Music, memories, and community shine at the Pattaya City Expats Club’s words & music morning

PATTAYA, Thailand – It was another Words and Music morning at the Wednesday, February 18, meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC). It was a vibrant celebration of music, connection, and generosity, as members and guests were treated to an extended live musical performance. Dhudz, Mary, and Tikoy delivered a heartfelt and dynamic program that blended popular songs, audience interaction, and personal storytelling.

MC Ren Lexander expressed the PCEC’s deep appreciation for the musicians’ willingness to perform without compensation and for their long-standing involvement in community events.  The musical program spanned a wide emotional range. Well-known selections such as The Time of My Life, Love Changes Everything, Bring Him Home, Proud Mary, and We Are the World were performed alongside spontaneous commentary and humor. There were many moments when they invited the audience to sing, clap, and even stand and dance, reinforcing a sense of shared experience rather than a traditional stage performance.

Beyond entertainment, the meeting underscored the emotional power of music. Performers and speakers reflected on themes of love, memory, loss, faith, and resilience, with particular attention given to songs that encourage reflection and unity. One of the more memorable moments shared during was their performance at a Valentine’s Day beach wedding. A PCEC member knowing the performers’ talent from previous PCEC Music and Word meetings had made the arrangements for her son’s wedding, complete with fire shows, Thai dancers from the bride’s family, and hours of music despite challenging conditions

Between songs, one performer reflected on a piece of advice he had been sharing with the community for years: Try to sing even half a note every morning. He compared it to the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” suggesting that one song a day can lift the spirit and change how people feel about themselves.

The performance concluded with an encore of We Are the World, during which performers invited audience members and fellow musicians to join them. What began as a concert moment turned into a collective sing‑along, later described as one of the most inclusive and heartfelt encores the group had experienced.
