Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul speaks to reporters, saying Thailand’s improving GDP figures reflect real economic momentum rather than statistical effects.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said Thailand’s GDP figures are genuinely improving, ahead of an official economic briefing, while attending the 141st anniversary homecoming celebration of Assumption College on Monday.

Mr Anutin, who also serves as Interior Minister, presided over the opening ceremony at the Saint Louis-Marie Memorial Building on Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district in the afternoon. Upon arrival, he jokingly told reporters covering political affairs that the occasion was a school event, not a political one.

Responding to questions about recent comments by the National Economic and Social Development Council suggesting an improved GDP outlook, the Prime Minister said the figures have indeed improved and will be formally announced.

Earlier in the day, Mr Anutin visited the Thai Khu Fah Building to review documents in preparation for Tuesday’s cabinet meeting. He was also scheduled to meet Pattana Phromphat, the Minister of Public Health, during the visit. (TNA)
