The Election Commission of Thailand announces the postponement of Subdistrict Administrative Organisation elections in 15 subdistricts of Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, from January 11 to January 18, 2026, citing security concerns along the Thai–Cambodian border to ensure voter safety and an orderly electoral process.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Election Commission of Thailand has announced a rescheduling of the polling date for local administrative organisation elections in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, due to the security situation along the Thai–Cambodian border.

The elections involve members of Subdistrict Administrative Organisations (SAOs) and SAO chiefs in 15 subdistricts. These elections had originally been scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026.

With the Sisaket Provincial Election Director’s approval, SAO election directors in the affected areas requested a reschedule of the polling date due to the border situation. The EC has set a new voting date for Sunday, January 18, 2026.

The Election Commission stated that the adjustment aims to ensure safety, order, and a smooth electoral process, while safeguarding voters’ rights in the affected areas. (NNT)
