TAT welcomes New Year 2026 with nationwide countdowns, spotlighting Phayao and Narathiwat

Fireworks and light displays illuminate a New Year countdown celebration supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, as TAT promotes festivities nationwide and highlights Phayao and Narathiwat as emerging countdown destinations for 2026.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is ushering in the New Year 2026 with vibrant celebrations across the nation, spotlighting Phayao and Narathiwat as up-and-coming hotspots and fresh countdown destinations. By supporting festivities from north to south, TAT aims to spark travel excitement and generate income for local communities, with New Year tourism revenue expected to soar to 70–76.5 billion baht.



TAT is elevating Phayao Countdown Flora Fest 2026 (28–31 December 2025) and Amazing Thailand Su-ngai Kolok Countdown 2026 as signature events, each dazzling with immersive light displays, vibrant cultural showcases, and modern performances that reflect the spirit of their communities. These celebrations invite travelers to venture beyond the usual hotspots and help rejuvenate local economies.

According to TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, these two standout destinations are poised to become Thailand’s next tourism gems. The festivities are crafted to spark New Year joy while nurturing balanced tourism, new job opportunities, and prosperity in secondary cities and their neighboring communities.


TAT is also supporting major countdown events across the country, including Amazing Thailand Countdown 2026 at ICONSIAM, centralwOrld Bangkok Countdown 2026, One Bangkok Countdown Celebration 2026, Neon Countdown 2026, EXTRAVAGANZA SUKHUMVIT COUNTDOWN 2026, Khaosan Countdown 2026, Hat Yai New Year 2026, Kamphaeng Phet Glow Night Countdown 2026, Udon Countdown 2026, and Hua Hin Countdown 2026.

​TAT forecasts 1.4 to 1.5 million international arrivals during the New Year period, generating 51.6 to 58 billion baht in revenue. Domestic travel is expected to increase by 7 percent, with about 4.96 million trips generating 18.5 billion baht. Total New Year tourism revenue in 2026 is projected at 70.1 to 76.5 billion baht, underscoring tourism’s role in economic growth and quality of life. (NNT)
