BANGKOK, Thailand – The Election Commission (EC) on December 25 completed its final preparatory briefing and full rehearsal ahead of the opening of candidate registration for the upcoming election of Members of the House of Representatives, scheduled to begin on Dec. 27.
The session took place at the Thai–Japanese Bangkok Youth Center in Din Daeng district, where officials conducted a detailed simulation of registration procedures. The exercise began with early-arriving candidates checking in by electoral district before 8:30 a.m. and submitting documents for verification. Once official registration begins, candidates in each district will attempt to reach an agreement on the order of document submission. If no agreement is reached, the sequence will be decided by lottery.
The lottery will proceed in two stages. First, the district director will draw lots to determine which candidates advance to the second round. Those selected will then draw again to establish the final order of application submission, which becomes each candidate’s official campaign number.
The EC reported full readiness in personnel, equipment, and venue operations. Supporters and the public will be kept outside the registration area, while those permitted to observe from designated seating must maintain order. After receiving official numbers, candidates are prohibited from holding celebratory events. Campaigning will be limited to campaign vehicles; celebratory processions and entertainment performances are not permitted.
To maintain consistent procedures nationwide, the EC has issued a registration manual for candidates and political parties. The public can access the manual and follow election updates through the commission’s website at www.ect.go.th, provincial election offices nationwide, or the election hotline at 1444.
