BANGKOK, Thailand – The First Army Area Operations Center reported progress in operations along the Thailand–Cambodia border in Sa Kaeo Province, confirming Thai forces have secured Ban Khlong Phaeng and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo. Cambodian forces, however, continue resistance through the use of supporting fire, especially BM-21 rocket strikes.
The First Army Area stated that operations are underway on three fronts along the Sa Kaeo border. The largely open terrain and limited permanent defenses make these areas vulnerable to attack. Cambodian forces have reportedly used civilian areas for military positions in attacks against Thai forces.
In Ban Khlong Phaeng, Ta Phraya District, Thai forces have established control, consolidated positions, and used supporting fire to maintain security, while facing continued Cambodian resistance.
In Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung District, Thai forces have also secured and consolidated control, though Cambodian supporting fire continues.
In Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung District, Cambodian forces have reinforced their positions and continued attacks. Thai forces are proceeding cautiously and conducting counter-operations to regain complete control.
The First Army Area added that operations against Cambodian military objectives in the Poipet area are ongoing. These actions target only military positions and infrastructure identified as threats, and are conducted proportionally in accordance with international law, with efforts to minimize impacts on civilians.
