PATTAYA, Thailand — Police Region 2 has convened a coordination meeting to finalise security and traffic management plans for the upcoming “PATTAYA COUNTDOWN 2026 MONOMAX” celebrations, aimed at ensuring safety and building confidence among residents and tourists during the New Year festivities.

The meeting was held on December 24 at Pattaya City Police Station and was chaired by Pol. Maj. Gen. Nuntawut Suwanla-ong, Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2. Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet assigned Phumiphat Kamolnath, Secretary to the Mayor of Pattaya, to attend and receive a briefing on operational plans, alongside representatives from relevant government agencies.

Pattaya City has scheduled the annual New Year countdown event from December 29 to 31, at Central Pattaya Beach and Koh Larn, with the goal of elevating the festival to a national-level event. The celebrations are expected to boost tourism, stimulate the local economy, and reinforce Pattaya and Chonburi’s image as major international destinations.

Pattaya City Police, in cooperation with government agencies, community networks, and private-sector partners, have prepared comprehensive measures covering public safety and traffic flow. Provincial Police Region 2 has instructed all units to integrate manpower, refine operational guidelines, and implement thorough security and traffic controls to ensure smooth operations throughout the event.

Authorities stressed that public and tourist safety remains the top priority. Measures include deploying officers at event venues, screening checkpoints, high-risk locations, and major traffic routes, as well as enhanced land and marine security. Traffic management plans are also being enforced to reduce congestion and maintain mobility during periods of heavy attendance.

Officials said the coordinated approach is intended to ensure the New Year celebrations proceed smoothly while reinforcing confidence among both Thai and international visitors traveling to Pattaya to welcome 2026.
