BANGKOK, Thailand – Royal Thai Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Pana Claewplodtook has chaired a high-level meeting at Army Headquarters to review operations, recognize personnel, and outline priorities for national security and public support as the New Year approaches. The session, involving direct reporting units, was held to assess readiness and current conditions across the force.

Before the formal agenda, Gen Pana awarded scholarships to the children of army officers and permanent employees admitted to public universities and nursing colleges for the 2025 academic year. He also presented certificates of commendation to military units involved in flood relief operations in Songkhla province, including disaster response, engineering, medical, and aviation units that assisted affected communities.

Briefings during the meeting included updates from the Army Operations Center, the Internal Security Operations Command, and general staff departments. The discussions addressed ongoing security challenges, including narcotics problems in northern and western regions, as well as border-area management to maintain order and national security.

Preparations for the New Year travel period were also discussed. The Army has coordinated with public and private partners to operate public service points nationwide from December 30 to January 5, providing road safety support, vehicle inspections, basic medical services, and travel assistance around the clock.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Gen Pana paid tribute to personnel who have sacrificed in defense of Thailand’s sovereignty and public safety, including those injured in the line of duty. He reaffirmed that caring for troops, their families, and the public remains a core principle of the Royal Thai Army, and extended New Year 2026 wishes for health, strength, and continued progress to all personnel and their families.
