CHONBURI, Thailand – Air Chief Marshal Satitpong Sukvimol, Principal Private Secretary to His Majesty the King, has conducted an on-site inspection at the Sichang Island Historical Learning Centre in Chonburi to review progress on a development project implemented under the royal policy of His Majesty the King. The visit was attended by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, senior cabinet members, provincial officials, and representatives of relevant agencies.

Authorities reported that the project follows an integrated framework to develop Sichang Island as a sustainable model area, with residents’ well-being as the top priority. The master plan is organized around five core areas: water resources, energy, environmental management, tourism, and overall quality of life, with an emphasis on self-reliance and long-term stability for the community.

In water management, the Koh Sichang Subdistrict Municipality has continued to distribute water from natural groundwater wells to households without water meters. From January through mid-December 2025, more than 8,400 deliveries were completed, totaling over 16,800 metric tons of water. Despite periods of limited rainfall and high temperatures, major natural water sources on the island remain adequate to support current demand.

Environmental work includes landscape improvements around the former blasting-stone pond to increase water storage capacity and support tourism, as well as the construction of a centralized wastewater collection and treatment system. The area is also being developed as a “Khok Nong Na” community learning site, enabling the reuse of treated wastewater. In energy development, progress continues on a solar power system linked to a microgrid, scheduled to begin supplying electricity in December 2027, as well as on a submarine power cable to strengthen energy security. Electrical equipment upgrades at Koh Sichang School and educational support from the Crown Property Bureau were also reported.

Tourism activity remained strong, with more than 379,000 domestic and international visitors recorded between January and mid-December 2025. Improvements at Atsadang Bay have moved forward alongside transparent management of maintenance fees. In social and environmental efforts, construction of a shelter for stray dogs and cats has been completed and is expected to open in early 2026, with capacity for up to 150 animals. Waste management measures are being expanded with private-sector technology to address more than 3,000 tons of accumulated waste.
