PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya and surrounding areas in Chonburi Province are expected to experience cooler conditions in the mornings and stronger winds, as a powerful northeast monsoon continues to affect much of Thailand, according to the Meteorological Department.

While the heaviest rainfall is concentrated in Thailand’s lower southern provinces, the strengthening monsoon is bringing noticeable changes to weather conditions along the eastern seaboard, including Pattaya. Residents can expect cooler early-morning temperatures, with readings dropping by around 1–2 degrees Celsius, accompanied by brisk winds, especially near coastal areas.

Daytime temperatures in Pattaya are forecast to remain warm, but mornings and evenings will feel noticeably cooler. The windy conditions may also affect beach activities and marine travel.

Rough Seas, Marine Advisory

The Meteorological Department has warned that sea conditions in the Gulf of Thailand remain moderately strong. In the lower Gulf, waves are reaching 2–3 metres, and could exceed 3 metres during thunderstorms. The upper Gulf is seeing waves of around 2 metres, higher in stormy areas.

Boat operators and fishermen in Pattaya and nearby coastal zones are urged to navigate with caution and avoid sailing during stormy periods. Small boats in the lower Gulf of Thailand have been advised to remain ashore during December 15–16.

Nationwide Weather Overview

The cooler conditions in Pattaya are part of a broader weather pattern affecting upper Thailand, caused by a high-pressure system and cold air mass from China spreading across the region. Authorities advise residents, particularly the elderly and those with health conditions, to take care during cooler and windy weather.

Meanwhile, air quality in Pattaya and across upper Thailand remains good, with low levels of dust and haze due to favorable air circulation.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay updated through official weather announcements, especially those planning marine activities or travel along the coast.
