Tossaporn Srisaman, Director of the Fine Arts Office 10, says Prasat Ta Kwai and other historic Khmer-era sites along the Thai-Cambodian border can be fully restored, but repairs must wait until the conflict subsides.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – Ancient temples damaged in ongoing border fighting with Cambodia can be fully restored, a senior Thai official confirmed, but stressed that restoration must await peace on the frontier.

Tossaporn Srisaman, Director of the Fine Arts Office 10, responsible for historical sites in the lower Northeast, addressed damage to Prasat Ta Kwai. The temple was reportedly used as a bunker and its spire collapsed due to sustained shelling.

“We can confirm that restoration can bring it back to its original state, but we must first wait for the situation to calm down,” Mr. Tossaporn stated.

The Fine Arts Department will form a committee to survey all affected sites along the Thai-Cambodian border, including Prasat Ta Muen Thom and Prasat Khana, which are also feared to have been damaged. (TNA)
