PATTAYA, Thailand – At around 7:00 a.m. on December 9, police and rescue units responded to a serious crash in Pattaya Rungrueang Village, Soi 4, Nongprue, after a white Toyota Vios reportedly plowed into a family’s home, injuring multiple occupants.
The single-storey townhouse was left heavily damaged, with the vehicle having slammed through the front gate, sliding door, and into the bathroom area. The force of the impact pushed household items into a pile and caused a bathroom wall to collapse, trapping residents inside.
Three people inside the house were injured including a 14-year-old girl who suffered minor abrasions and was left in shock, a 69-year-old woman recovering from knee surgery who was thrown from her bed and suffered severe back pain and a 30-year-old woman, the homeowner’s wife, who became trapped under the collapsed bathroom wall and required more than 30 minutes of rescue efforts before being safely extricated. During the rescue operation, one volunteer also suffered an arm injury when part of the weakened structure collapsed.

The driver, identified as a 58-year-old man, sustained chest injuries and was taken to hospital. He told his insurance representative that he had just picked up the car from a repair shop and was on his way to work when the accelerator allegedly jammed, causing him to lose control and crash into the home.
Homeowner Wiroj, 44, said he had been preparing to take his daughter to school when the car burst through their home with a deafening crash. He was initially unable to leave his bedroom because the wrecked vehicle blocked the doorway. When he finally managed to climb out, he found his family members injured, with his wife trapped under the fallen wall.
He said he had lived in the village for over 15 years and had never experienced anything like this.
Police are continuing their investigation and have not yet determined whether the crash was caused by mechanical failure or driver error. CCTV footage from a house about 100 meters away showed the car driving normally moments before the collision.
