
UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – Prime Minister’s Office Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi visited Ubon Ratchathani Province to offer encouragement to soldiers injured in a landmine incident while on patrol along the Thai-Cambodian border. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring the highest level of care and support for all personnel wounded in the line of duty.
The Minister and her delegation traveled to Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital to visit Sergeant Major 1st Class Therdsak Samaphong, a platoon leader with Rifle Company 1611, who sustained severe injuries resulting in the loss of his right ankle after stepping on a PMN-2 landmine. The incident occurred on November 10 during a routine patrol in the Huai Ta Maria area in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, under the responsibility of the Second Army Area. Medical teams have continued surgical treatment following signs of infection, while the soldier remains in stable condition with strong morale.
Supamas also visited three additional soldiers injured during the same incident:
- Private Wachira Phanthana, grenadier assistant, who suffered chest trauma from the blast.
- Private Apirak Srichomchai, M203 gunner, who sustained two shrapnel wounds to his right calf.
- Private Anucha Sujaree, rifleman, who experienced eye irritation from dust and debris but has since been declared safe.
The Minister presented care packages to the injured personnel and their families, conveying the Government’s profound concern and gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice. She emphasized that the soldiers’ bravery in safeguarding Thailand’s sovereignty reflects their unwavering commitment to national security.
The Minister reiterated that all wounded personnel will receive comprehensive welfare support and medical treatment, affirming that the Government stands firmly with the soldiers and their families throughout their recovery. (NNT)
