King and Queen of Thailand begin historic state visit to China on 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties

King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida arrive in Beijing for a historic state visit marking 50 years of Thailand-China diplomatic relations.

BEILING – Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand departed from Dusit Palace on November 13 for a state visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. The visit, running from November 13–17, marks the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, Their Majesties were welcomed by senior Chinese officials, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The state visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties, enhance mutual understanding between the Thai and Chinese peoples, and celebrate five decades of diplomatic friendship. Their Majesties proceeded to the China World Hotel in Beijing, where accommodations were arranged for the royal delegation.
