BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered the immediate repatriation of foreign nationals who entered Thailand illegally, citing rising national security concerns and the financial strain of holding them in the country. The Premier said coordination is underway with countries of origin to ensure the return of these individuals in line with international and domestic legal procedures.
Anutin, during his visit to Tak province on November 10, confirmed ongoing discussions with the Indian Ambassador to facilitate the return of Indian nationals currently awaiting deportation. He also directed the Royal Thai Police and related agencies to step up screening efforts to prevent Thailand from being used as a transit route for criminal networks.
Authorities have been instructed to expedite the removal process for migrants from more than 20 countries, with a focus on ensuring they face legal consequences under their national laws. The move is expected to help reduce potential threats and strengthen the country’s legal and immigration systems.
The government is also increasing cross-border cooperation and tightening controls to prevent future illegal entries, while continuing efforts to safeguard public safety and regional stability. (TNA)
