BANGKOK, Thailand – The Senate Committee on Military Affairs has called an urgent meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 11, to hear from Lt. Gen. Boonsin Padklang following his claim that senior officials ordered Thai troops to cease fire during the July 24–28 clashes with Cambodia.
The committee, chaired by Sen. Gen. Sawat Tatsana, cited the sensitive nature of the Thai-Cambodian border situation and its potential impact on national security and territorial integrity. The session, scheduled from 8:00–9:10 a.m. at Parliament Building Room 327, will review the facts and allow discussion on the border conflict.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin, former 2nd Army Area Commander and current advisor to the Army Commander, reportedly stated at a “Continuing Good Deeds” event in Nakhon Pathom that fire had been halted just six hours into the first day of fighting due to orders from senior authorities.
The committee emphasized the importance of obtaining accurate information to guide future actions and maintain Thailand’s security along its border. (TNA)
