BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is taking the lead in getting Southeast Asia moving. The Thai Health Promotion Foundation, together with the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center and Mahidol University, is hosting the region’s first-ever South-East Asia Physical Activity Conference 2025, or SEAPAC 2025, in Bangkok.
The three-day event, which concludes today (Nov 7), is being attended by over 700 participants from 14 countries. The gathering marks a major step toward building a regional movement that encourages people across ASEAN to live more active, healthier, and longer lives.
At the center of this initiative is Thailand’s new Physical Activity Hub, which will serve as a key resource for research, knowledge sharing, and policy coordination. The main goal is to encourage everyone to move at least 150 minutes per week to help prevent non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
The conference features over 110 academic presentations, interactive workshops, and an e-Exhibition under the theme of a “Healthy Active Meeting,” designed to keep participants moving even as they learn.
An Innovation Pitching session also highlights creative ideas from youth and young researchers working to make physical activity more accessible to everyone. The event will end with an award ceremony recognizing outstanding research and innovative projects that promote physical activity across the region. (NNT)
