Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol, former Royal Thai Police Chief, and over 200 officers were found to have committed disciplinary violations related to online gambling bribes, the Police Complaints Committee confirms.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Police Complaints Committee (PCC) has concluded that Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol, former Royal Thai Police Chief, along with over 200 other officers, committed disciplinary violations related to accepting bribes from online gambling operations.

The decision follows a seven-month investigation after lawyer Sithra Bieabungerd or ‘Lawyer Tum’ filed a complaint in March 2024, alleging that the officers received payments from an online gambling syndicate. The PCC reviewed documents from multiple agencies and conducted a retrospective inquiry covering several years. On October 22, the committee found sufficient grounds for disciplinary action.

The next step allows Pol. Gen. Tor and the other implicated officers to respond to the allegations, after which the committee will determine whether the violations warrant severe or minor disciplinary penalties. The findings will then be forwarded to the Royal Thai Police for further action.

The PCC noted that the Royal Thai Police cannot reopen an investigation unless new evidence or significant counterarguments emerge that could change the case outcome. The committee emphasized its commitment to fairness and thorough consideration for all parties involved. (TNA)
