Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn emphasized Cambodia’s commitment to avoid conflict while standing ready to protect its territorial integrity amid rising border tensions with Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn reaffirmed his country’s firm commitment to peace, stressing that while Cambodia does not seek conflict, it stands ready to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity if provoked.

In a statement released by the government’s Media and Quick Reaction Unit, Prak Sokhonn said Cambodia’s greatest effort is to prevent war—not out of fear, but out of wisdom and responsibility toward its people.

“Our greatest effort is to avoid war—not because we fear it, but because we know it only brings destruction. We are not greedy for others’ land, nor are we aggressors seeking to seize what is not ours. We take up arms only to defend our territorial integrity. We have done much, yet we are still not safe,” he said.

His remarks come amid rising tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, where Cambodian authorities have accused Thai soldiers of repeated incursions and psychological intimidation of villagers in Banteay Meanchey province.
