BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the first meeting of the Committee on the Administration and Management of Natural Disaster Situations (KORPH) on Sunday, focusing on the ongoing flood crisis, relief measures, and preparedness for future natural disasters.

Anutin opened the session by acknowledging that Thailand is currently facing severe flooding, storms, and landslides in many provinces, causing both property damage and loss of life. He noted that the country continues to be affected by Tropical Storm Matmo, and that from mid-October onward, the monsoon season could bring further heavy rainfall and flash floods.

He emphasized the government’s concern for affected residents, saying that Cabinet members have been dispatched to flood-hit provinces to monitor conditions, offer support, and ensure rapid assistance. Relevant agencies have been instructed to expedite relief and compensation efforts for all victims.

Anutin added that the meeting aimed to assess the current situation, plan systematic water management, and coordinate nationwide flood relief efforts through an integrated approach involving all sectors. The results of the meeting will be summarized and followed by specific directives to relevant agencies. (TNA)
