Maj Gen Norathip takes command of ISOC Region 4, outlines peace-building priorities for the south

Succeeding Lt Gen Paisal Nusang, the new ISOC Region 4 chief pledged unity, community trust, and integrated security-development efforts to ensure lasting stability in the southern provinces.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Lieutenant General Paisal Nusang officially handed over command of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 (ISOC Region 4) on Tuesday (Sept 30), as he moved into his new position as Special Advisor to the Royal Thai Army. Major General Norathip Poinok was appointed as the 30th Director of ISOC Region 4.

At the handover ceremony held at Sirindhorn Camp in Pattani province, Lt Gen Paisal reflected on his tenure, stressing ISOC Region 4’s role in safeguarding the southern provinces and strengthening public trust. He noted that the Army’s service under royal patronage has been crucial to protecting national security and upholding the monarchy’s honor.


Maj Gen Norathip assumed his new role with recognition of the challenges ahead. He commended his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to guide the command with unity and teamwork, ensuring ISOC Region 4 continues to serve as the South’s principal security institution.

With a background spanning special forces, border defense, counter-narcotics operations, and civic missions, Maj Gen Norathip brings extensive experience to the post. His career involves inter-agency coordination, support for royal projects, and collaboration with border communities to foster local ties.


Looking ahead, he outlined priorities under the Peace-Building Policy for 2026. These include border security, counter-narcotics efforts, multicultural coexistence, trust-building with local communities, and integrating security with development. He also detailed measures in personnel management, intelligence, and civic engagement, with the goal of creating a safe, violence-free environment across the southern border provinces. (NNT)
