
BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow has met with Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA80), to discuss Thailand’s role within the UN and ways to strengthen cooperation.
During the meeting, Baerbock commended Thailand’s active contributions, highlighting its chairmanship of the Third Committee of the General Assembly, which addresses social, humanitarian, and cultural matters, as well as its role as host of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
Sihasak reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the UN and work on priorities set out by the General Assembly presidency, including UN reform.
Baerbock, a former foreign minister of Germany, is the fifth woman elected to preside over the General Assembly since the UN was established in 1945. (NNT)
